President Tinubu Champions African Unity and Development in Inspiring AU Address

In a momentous address at the 37th Ordinary Session of the Assembly of Heads of State and Government of the African Union (AU) in Addis Ababa, Ethiopia, President Bola Tinubu reaffirmed Nigeria's dedication to hosting the African Central Bank by 2028, aligning with the vision outlined in the Abuja Treaty.

President Tinubu underscored the importance of collaboration with the African Union Commission and member states, emphasizing the imperative of timely establishment for the success of Africa in overcoming challenges, highlighting solidarity and strategic resolution as key components.

Addressing global concerns such as climate change, inequitable global trade patterns, and internal challenges such as autocracies resulting from coups, the President emphasized the necessity of unity in collectively addressing these obstacles.

Regarding recent military interventions in Guinea, Burkina Faso, Mali, and Niger, President Tinubu emphasized the significance of maintaining regional cohesion and cooperation, stressing that a peaceful and united West Africa transcends individual differences.

Speaking on the summit's theme of education, the President highlighted its pivotal role in addressing the continent's challenges. He detailed Nigeria's commitment to education, emphasizing a holistic approach that includes science and technology education, democratic practice, diplomacy, and non-violent conflict resolution.

President Tinubu extended an invitation to the Africa Counter-Terrorism Summit in April 2024, to be held in Abuja, emphasizing its comprehensive approach to addressing the root causes of violent extremism.
